The lyrics of this song are based on Greek mythology, the story of Daedalus and his son Icarus. It is a beautiful story that I strongly recommend everyone should know. Some musicians have written lyrics focusing on Icarus’s fall, but it is after the fall that I begin the lyrics of this song. In my fiction, I tell another story, completely dissociated from the myth as it is commonly known. I imagine that Icarus’s soul was freed from that body, and while wandering the world, it found a way to return, but this time as an eaglet, so it could fly fully. But is everything fine in the animal world? No bills to pay? Certainly not. There is always a crow to pick on you. This new creative story can be checked out in the lyrics and in the music video. Enjoy. Lyrics
I will fly higher than my father said I can The wax holds the feathers And the sun will not melt them The pride was my mistake I have lost my wings I'm falling now towards the sea Now, now I can fly I am a ghost looking for An eagle's nest Now, it's not the belly It is from the eagle's egg I will rebirth Mother eagle has no advice She just puts food in my mouth I've been waiting for my wings to grow But my mother throws me off the cliff I'm falling again I'll spread my wings And let the wind carry me Now, now I can fly Over the mountains Close to the sun Now, I'm really free I have found my way To my destiny The crow on my back Pecks my head to kill me I'll fly so high till he loses his breath |
